IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!!
NEW TEXT MESSAGING "PHISHING" SCAM

FIRST PACE Credit Union has been notified of a new risk associated with text messaging. These phishing attempts to get your debit or credit card number seem to come from a credit union but are not legitimate. We would never ask for personal information via text, phone or email. We have not experienced any fraud and hope by alerting you, you may avoid any scams. The following is an excerpt received from our bonding company:

Credit unions and leagues across the country continue to report a high volume of text message and phone phishing attacks against credit union members and nonmembers. Many of the individuals being targeted do not belong to the credit union whose name appears in the text message or phone call. The automated message indicates the individual’s card has been de-activated and to re-activate the card, he/she must enter their 16 digit card number, CVV2/CVC2, card expiration date, and/or PIN. In some cases there was no number attached to the call. Some members have fallen prey to the scam and provided their card information, which resulted in subsequent fraud.

We ask that you:

  • NEVER respond to a text message or phone call that requests personal or account information
  • REPORT any incident to the Federal Trade Commission and to file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center
  • REPORT the telephone number(s) to your local carrier immediately so it can attempt to shut it down.
  • MONITOR financial accounts (deposit and credit card accounts) on a regular basis.  Immediately report any unauthorized transactions.

FIRST PACE Credit Union provides credit union services designed specifically to meet the unique financial needs of our members and their families.

Unlike a bank, we are a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution. That means, instead of profits going to stockholders, we return our earnings to our members in the form of higher savings rates, lower loan rates, and fewer and lower fees. And each member account is insured to at least $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration.

We give our products and services a personal touch, with the basic credit union philosophy of members helping members achieve financial success. We provide a wide range of services to help, either directly or through our CUSO (Credit Union Service Organization) CU Companies.

We are a member of the Minnesota Credit Union Network, receiving regulatory and legal guidance from them. They also provide us with invaluable assistance on networking with other credit unions for products and services, educational seminars and political legislation to ensure the prosperity of credit unions. To learn more about Minnesota credit unions, find a credit union to join or to become politically involved, visit their website at www.mncun.org .
